The Bouwinvest Healthcare Fund has purchased two care complexes in ‘s Gravenzande from construction form Dura Vermeer. The complexes will be built in Waelpolder, the final phase of the Waelpark area development in ’s-Gravenzande. Dura Vermeer is developing and building a mix of care homes, rental apartments and owner-occupied homes in the area. The Cardia Foundation has signed a lease contract for both care complexes.

Waelpolder comprises a care complex with 64 inpatient care units. In addition, there will be six private residential care homes, two of which have been specially designed for couples in need of care, adding to the range of care services on offer. The project also includes a 450-square-metre health centre with additional care facilities. Directly adjacent to the care facility, Dura Vermeer will build an apartment building with 40 mid-rental segment homes, which will also be owned by the Bouwinvest Healthcare Fund. These homes will be designed in such a way that Cardia will be able to provide residents with direct care services. Finally, the project will include 67 owner-occupied homes, 39 of which will be in the mid-range segment.

Henriëtte Bertels, director of Cardia: “At Cardia, we believe in small-scale living for elderly people with dementia, with a contemporary vision of care. We stimulate the potential of elderly people by working with family, friends and the neighbourhood, and we make use of smart technology. In the new care location, but also in the adjacent apartment complex where we can provide home care.”

Collin Boelhouwer, Fund Manager Dutch Healthcare & Retail Investments, says: “The Netherlands is facing the enormous challenge of building one million homes, and suitable housing for the elderly will plays a key role in meeting this challenge. By investing in projects such as these two care complexes in ‘s-Gravenzande, the Bouwinvest Healthcare Fund is contributing to the much-needed mobility in the housing market and the creation of future-proof housing solutions for the elderly.”

Nicolle Terlouw, Director of Real Estate Development at Dura Vermeer: “We are delighted to be working once again with Bouwinvest and Cardia to make a significant contribution to meeting the high demand for care homes and mid-rental segment properties. Together with the owner-occupied programme, we are delivering a socially relevant housing programme for the municipality of Westland. Following previous successful collaborations in Zoetermeer and Rijswijk, Waelpolder is the third location where we are working together on a residential/care programme, and we are grateful for this long-term collaboration and the trust that both parties have placed in Dura Vermeer.”
